Events and Activities This Week

Hope you've had a lovely weekend! Just a reminder of what we've got coming up at St Lawrence this week - details are below. We are about to enter Week 1 on the hot dinner menu.

Monday 7th October

  • Year 5 Maths Challenge at Princethorpe this morning (four pupils are taking part and parents have been notified).

Wednesday 9th October

  • Year 3 have their 5th swimming session this morning.

Thursday 10th October

  • Tonight is the PTA AGM at 8pm in the school hall, and after a short meeting we will be going over to the Victory Club for a drink and informal chat about the upcoming year of fundraising. The PTA would love as many people to join them as possible and would be delighted to see you, so please do come along and hear all about last year's many successful events as well as this year's plans.
  • We're back to Thursday hymn practice this week and from now on, so if your child's in the school orchestra, please send them today with their instrument.

Friday 11th October

  • Today is the deadline for ordering individual and sibling school photos from Mango Photography. Please order directly on their website - we cannot take orders at the office. If you have mislaid your child's proof card, the office can provide you with a scan of it which will give you the order number, so please don't hesitate to ask before the deadline if that's something you need.
  • This week it's Year 2's turn to host the PTA cake sale, and all funds raised will go straight to Mrs Maffey and Miss Shepherd to spend on the children. All donations of cakes or biscuits will be very gratefully received and we do hope you'll join us at the end of the day.
  • Year 4 have an extra PE session on the afternoon of Friday 11th October so please ensure Y4 children have their PE kits in school on that day.

General Reminders

  • We'd like to issue an ongoing plea to all families who park cars in Napton at drop-off and pick-up. It is really important that everyone parks safely, considerately and legally in the village for the safety of everyone and for the sake of community relations with our neighbours. Please don't park on the yellow chevrons next to the school kitchen or in the staff car park at any time. If you are using the disabled parking bay, you need to display a valid blue badge and have the holder of the badge in the car with you every time you park there. Thank you very much for your support with this.

  • We already have an enormous amount of lost property in school even though it's still so early in the academic year. We in the office are very keen to reunite pupils with their lost items but we can only do so when things are named. Please ensure that everything that comes into school is labelled with your child's name. My Nametags sell the ideal solution - please use our school ID fundraising code of 33008 if you make a purchase from them.

  • Unfortunately our landline is still not working so if you need to phone the school office, please use one of our two mobile numbers: 07510 423 038 or 07762 992 730. The situation with the landline is out of our control but as soon as it's working again, we will notify all families.

  • The PTA are still looking for volunteers for Autumn Games, so if you can help, please let us know using the form below. Each volunteer receives a free child place as a thank you for your support. Please sign up to help here: https://forms.gle/Zpx9AESMCiGA1RD57

  • If you have a child who'll be entering Reception in September 2025, or you know anyone who does, we have an Open Morning coming up on Tuesday 22nd October (more details are in last Friday's Journal). You can book a tour by emailing the school office.

Thank you, as ever, for your support! Hope you have a good week.
