Whilst we encourage good attendance here at St Lawrence’s, we understand that occasionally children will be too unwell to attend school.
In this instance:

    • We request that you telephone or email the school by 9.30am on the day that your child is to be absent.
    • We ask that you tell us why your child is not attending school and when they are likely to return.
    • If your child is absent from school for more than one day, we ask that you contact the school every day to confirm this.

We follow the Public Health Agency guidance on infection control and for certain conditions we ask that children are kept away from school for a specific length of time. Details of specific conditions can be found here: Guidance on infection control in schools poster.

With regard to incidences of vomiting, we ask you to use your judgement as to whether the sickness is a one off episode or a vomiting illness.  As a guideline we would define a vomiting illness as being sick more than once in a 12 hour period.

If you’re unsure whether your child should be kept away from school or not, please contact the school office, who will be happy to advise.
