In previous years have been pleased to have been awarded first a Bronze School Games Mark, then a Silver, for sports provision at the school. This year we are delighted to have our provision recognised by gaining the Gold School Games Mark.
Each child has a minimum of 2 hours curriculum time dedicated to PE and most benefit from specialist provision from Coventry Rugby Club and KITS Academy throughout the year. Children in Years 3-6 also have swimming lessons on a rota basis.
- Key Stage 2 children benefit from lunchtime provision (3 activities) on a daily basis.
- Sporting Clubs (held at lunchtimes and after school) include Cross Country, Football, Netball, Tag Rugby and athletics, and most of them are free of charge!
- Children from across the school from Year 1 upwards are able to compete in a range of sports, from Indoor Athletics to Tennis, from Football to Dodgeball and from Cross Country (through streams and ditches) to Swimming.
Indeed, rarely are one of our teams not competing in a semi final or better each year, against both local and area teams. It would be fair to say that our Netball team is consistently our most successful team year on year, but this year, who knows?
Sporting achievements from outside of school are also very much supported and recognised, ranging from Dance, Ballet, Rugby, Football, Park Runs, Martial Arts Gymnastics, Go Karting and Equestrian achievements to name but a few. It has been especially thrilling to recognise those competing at a national level, most notably on horseback.
When children are competing in school time, parents should always seek permission for absence from the Head Teacher via the school office.
