The School Orchestra started with just a couple of children playing their flutes, accompanying Mr Brine on his guitar. Very quickly other children and staff were keen to join them, playing in school assemblies, Church services, and the village hall and for the Summer Concert Night.
The School Orchestra now includes: guitars, recorders, flutes, violins, the cello, the trumpet, the saxophone, the clarinet and on occasions, the piano.
Most of the children have completed some grades (up to Grade 6), though many don’t and simply enjoy their music lessons but on and out of school. In fact, it is by simply joining in (and sometimes making mistakes) that the children develop their sight reading and musicality as well as boosting their enthusiasm for music.
Information about music lessons and the Orchestra is always available from the school office.
